One of the most important development projects in Croatia, the construction of the Gaming Industry Center in Novska, is currently in its first phase. During a site visit, the works were reviewed by Ivan Celjak, Prefect of Sisak-Moslavina County; Marija Kušmiš, Mayor of Novska; Andreja Šeperac, Director of the Public Institution Regional Coordinator SMŽ; Ivana Matanović, Deputy Director and Deputy Mayor of Novska; along with collaborators, project team members, and construction contractors.
Andreja Šeperac, Director of the Public Institution Regional Coordinator of Sisak-Moslavina County, emphasized that the construction site has made significant progress since the day the cornerstone was laid. “Here we already have the student dormitory, which has reached the first floor, the hall, the swimming pool, the faculty building, and the roadway we walked on today. We believe that by 2027 we will be able to come here together and walk through the fully equipped spaces, welcoming the first students whom we hope to enroll in 2028,” she said.
Mayor of the City of Novska, Marija Kušmiš, emphasized her satisfaction with the developments in the Novska Business Zone, stating: „Eight years ago, when we began developing the gaming industry, we could not have imagined where Novska would end up. The development of gaming has influenced the overall development of the city and served as an incentive for numerous other infrastructure projects that we are implementing, and what this Gaming Industry Center will bring—we will see once it is completed.“ She also pointed out that this project will certainly contribute to improved city infrastructure, especially by attracting young people, that is, students, enriching the community with new content, influencing economic development, which is the goal of every local community and county. We would like to remind that, through the establishment of the PISMO Business Incubator powered by A1, which oriented Novska toward the gaming industry, the city is already recognized in Croatia and the region as a center of the gaming industry, and consequently so is Sisak-Moslavina County. „What certainly makes us happy are young people who see their future in the gaming industry, which is also the fastest-growing industry, contributing to a truly better quality of life not only for the residents of Novska, but for all inhabitants of Sisak-Moslavina County,“ said Kušmiš.
„This is truly one of the most significant projects not only for Novska and Sisak-Moslavina County, but I would also say for the Republic of Croatia, given that this is a strategic project of the Government of the Republic of Croatia. I believe it will be a generator of Novska’s future development, because alongside this project it will be necessary to build adequate municipal infrastructure and all other related facilities in order to ensure the highest possible quality of life in Novska,“ Celjak emphasized.
The Gaming Industry Center project is valued at more than €76 million and is funded by the Just Transition Fund. It consists of two phases, with the first phase currently underway, and construction is progressing according to the project timeline. The development includes a student dormitory, a faculty building, a power plant, road infrastructure, and sports facilities: a swimming pool, a sports hall, and outdoor sports courts.
